Weekend Results

Some excellent performances from our girls teams on Saturday in the Stoneleigh cup. The U13s were up against 3 Premier league team in their group and 7 points took them through as group winners. A 2-1 win over Warwick Angels was followed up with 1-0 win over Sutton United.  A 1-1 draw with current Premier league leaders Coventry Girls capped an excellent performance. Megan (3) and Willow were the goalscorers on the day.

Another team to cause an upset was the U18 Girls, a 1-1 draw with Coventry Girls meant that the Lions would have to beat Coventry United to progress. The girls put in a superb disciplined defensive performance and snatched a late goal with Lia volleying in to surprise the Premier League side and ensure it was Coundon who would advance to the quarter finals.

The U14s finished 3rd in their group but holding league leaders Leamington to a goalless draw was a highlight. Leah scored both goals during the tournament on her return from injury.  Both the U12s and U15s competed well in their groups but did not go through.

In friendly football the improving U9 Girls were involved in an exciting game with Leafield. The Lions goals scored by Josie, Bridget, Isabel and Louisa. The U10s were at Leicester City and enjoyed goals from Mia (2), Megan (2), Libby (2) and Summer.  The U7 Boys returned to action and Dan (2), Harry S and Connor were on target.

On Sunday the U11 Boys were at Alvis, Alex, Owen and Charlie L all finding the back of the net. An injury hit U12 Boys started well at Sphinx but were worn down by a very good side.
